Score higher on the GRE — with personalized prep

Generic GRE prep books treat every student the same. I don't. Whether you're struggling with Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative problem-solving, or the Analytical Writing essay, we work on the specific gaps holding your score back — nothing else.

My approach

01

Start with a diagnostic

Before we plan anything, we look at where you actually are. A short diagnostic session pinpoints the exact GRE question types costing you points — Verbal, Quant, or both — so we don't spend time on things you already know.

02

Build a targeted plan

Based on the diagnostic, I put together a session plan built around your weak spots and target score. A student aiming for a 160+ Verbal needs a very different plan from someone shoring up Quantitative Reasoning fundamentals.

03

Practice with purpose

Each online GRE tutoring session mixes concept review with real practice problems. I explain not just the right answer, but the underlying reasoning — so you can replicate it independently under timed test conditions.

About

I'm Heather, an independent GRE tutor offering one-on-one online sessions to students preparing for graduate school. I work with students across all sections of the GRE — Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and the Analytical Writing essay.

My focus is on building genuine understanding rather than test tricks. The GRE rewards a specific kind of analytical thinking, and I help students develop exactly that — so their performance holds up under the pressure of the actual exam.

Sessions are fully online via Zoom or Google Meet, which means students can work with me regardless of location. I keep availability flexible and scheduling simple — no packages, no subscriptions, just $45 per hour.

Who I work with

Students applying to graduate, business, or law programs who need to improve their GRE scores — from first-time test takers to students retaking the exam to hit a specific target.

Format

60-minute sessions online. We use a shared digital whiteboard for working through problems together in real time.

FAQ

Not at all. Many students come in before ever sitting a practice test. We'll start with a diagnostic to figure out where you are and build a plan from there.
GRE prep courses cover the same material for everyone. One-on-one tutoring starts from where you specifically are — your score breakdown, your weak question types, your timeline. Every session is focused on moving your score, not working through a preset curriculum. For students who've already tried self-study or a course and haven't seen the improvement they need, targeted tutoring is usually the most efficient next step.
It depends on where you're starting and how much time you put in between sessions. Students who come in with a clear gap in one section and work consistently tend to see meaningful improvement in 6–10 sessions. I won't make guarantees — honest prep doesn't work that way — but I can tell you after the diagnostic whether your target score is realistic given your timeline.
Both, plus the Analytical Writing essay. Some students need help across all three sections; others have a specific weak area. We focus wherever your score has the most room to grow.
Sessions take place via Zoom or Google Meet — whichever you prefer. I'll share the link in your confirmation email. We use a shared digital whiteboard for working through problems together in real time.
Ideally 6–10 weeks before your test date. That gives us time to identify your weak areas, do focused practice, and run through real exam conditions. If your test is sooner, reach out anyway — targeted prep in 3–4 weeks can still move the needle significantly.
Sessions are $45 per hour. There are no packages or prepayment requirements — you book and pay session by session, as many or as few as you need.
No problem — just give me 24 hours' notice and we'll find another time. Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice are charged for the session.
After booking, I'll send an invoice via Stripe. You can pay by card. Payment is due before the session.
